April Updates
Help local senior Joy Salo reach Eagle Scout!
SOLOS is happy to send this message out to our members to help local Eagle Scout candidate, Joy Salo raise money for a very worthy Eagle Scout Project. Please visit her Go Fund Me account to learn more about her project.

Joy came to SOLOS in the Fall to learn more about SOLOS and our environmental goals. SOLOS is committed to keeping our open spaces, beautiful lakes, and natural trails in place for all in the community to enjoy. We agree that some benches on the far side of Lake Calero for hikers to rest and take in the beautiful views is a perfect project for our community. We hope you all will consider a donation to Joy to help her finance this worthy project.
We've also setup a link for Joy on our SOLOS Donation page https://www.solosrm.org/get_involved
Also, if you haven't walked around Lake Chesbro for a while, we highly recommend it. There is a section of town homes that have spectacular azaleas right now with all sorts of wildflowers along the water as well.

You will also get to see concrete benches that are just like the ones Joy Salo is planning to have installed at Lake Calero.
It's such a beautiful stroll and there is so much to see. I saw a family of at least 7 turtles sunning on a log several times this past week along with our beautiful swans. We are so lucky to have these nature habitats so protected and close by.
RM Fire Safe Council Holds Emergency Preparedness Training Workshop
There were over 200 in attendance at the RM Country Club on April 8th as the Rancho Murieta Fire Safe Council presented its first Emergency

Preparedness Training for our community. Participants heard from RMA General Manager, Kevin Hubred regarding what RMA is doing to prepare our community for wild fire prevention. Also present were the Fire Marshall and Public Information Officer from Sacramento Metro and Cal Fire, and Peter Meza from California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara's office, who presented statewide information regarding insurance and wild fire issues.

The highlight of the training was the guest speaker, Caerleon Safford who hails from Sonoma County and is an expert presenter on wildfire disaster preparedness, house hardening recommendations, and an experienced fire fighter. Her experiences and humor were appreciated by the audience and there were lots of questions during the Q & A period after her presentation. The good news is that RMA videotaped the presentation and it will be available on the RMA website for residents to view sometime soon in the future. Make sure to keep an eye out for it!
